× A Community Organized Event Presented by Fil-Can Cultural Heritage Society of Surrey

Together We Heal: Honouring Our Community Champions On April 26, 2025, the Lapu Lapu Block Party tragedy left an indelible mark on our community. Amidst the heartbreak, remarkable individuals and organizations emerged, embodying resilience, compassion, and unity. To honour their extraordinary contributions, "Together We Heal" is a tribute event dedicated to these Community Champions who exemplified leadership and humanity during our darkest hours.

Join us as we commemorate the courage and dedication of: Hon. Mable Elmore: A beacon of strength and advocacy for the Filipino community, ensuring voices were heard in government spaces. Hon. Mayor Ken Sim, City of Vancouver: A symbol of solidarity, fostering inclusivity and heartfelt support for grieving families. United Filipino-Canadian Association of BC (UFC ABC): Champions of unity and immediate community support through fundraising and emotional outreach. Eagles Hinirang Club: First responders whose bravery and swift actions provided life-saving assistance. Jason Pires, Global BC Anchor: A voice for the voiceless, delivering heartfelt, authentic coverage that highlighted the community's pain and resilience. Rey and Araceli Fortaleza, RF Media: Anchors of truth and connection, ensuring the Filipino community stayed informed and united. Hon. Mayor Brenda Locke, City of Surrey: A leader whose compassionate actions created spaces for healing and inclusivity. Office of Philippine Consulate-Vancouver represented by Consul General Gina Jamoralin. Club Vancouver Mountainview - District 5040

This event is more than a ceremony; it is a testament to our community’s strength, an opportunity to reflect, and a chance to heal together. Let’s unite in honouring those who stood with us when it mattered most.
