Spend an evening enjoying a skilled performance navigating the landscapes of Raga and Tala. In Indian classical music “Raga” is a melodic concept and framework out of which entire worlds of expression are created. Alam Khan is the son and disciple of Maestro Ali Akbar Khan and the grandson of Ustad Allauddin Khan. He is following in his esteemed family’s footsteps with his mastery of the sarod, a lute-like 25-stringed fretless Indian classical instrument, related to the sitar and one of the primary instruments of classical Indian music.
Alam has enjoyed a successful solo career, touring worldwide and is the faceof a new generation of sarod players of the Maihur gharana (tradition). Accompanied by Eman Hashimi on tabla, this is a performance aficionados of Indian Classical music and newcomers to the genre will both enjoy!
