Don’t miss this chance to experience a living legend of Indian classical music, mridangam maestro Sri Trichy Sankaran in concert with a team of India’s leading musicians in a rare Carnatic kutcheri (South Indian classical music recital). Sandeep Narayan hails from a musical family and is one of India’s brightest vocalists, having concertized internationally for the past 15 years. He is supported by V.V.S. Murari on violin (son of esteemed violinist V.V. Subramaniam) and K.V. Gopalakrishnan on kanjira (lizard-skin tambourine), one of South India’s best kanjira
Sri Trichy Sankaran is one of the greatest living performers of the mridangam, the most important percussion instrument in South India. He has been a professional musician for nearly 7 decades, has concertized around the globe, and has engaged in cross-cultural performances and collaborations with musicians from numerous genres ranging from jazz to gamelan to African music to contemporary classical. Aside from being a performer, he is also an esteemed composer of intercultural music, an author of two books, and an educator of high-repute, having taught at York University for over 40 years.
