What would have happened if Bob Marley had spent time soaking in the musical traditions of Delhi? Or if the members of Canadian rock legend Rush had fallen in love with the ancient traditions of ghazal and light classical Indian music? Enter Indian Standard Time, an electrifying collective of musicians from Canada, India, Malaysia, and the UK. Indian Standard Time dances with North Indian classical traditions and yet defies description—an alt/jam/prog/funk/reggae/Indian fusion band creating a live experience unlike any other.

The members of Indian Standard Time are Dr. Bruce Harding (flute, vocals, guitar, bass), Sandy Khaira (drums, percussion, bass), Coach Sandhu (guitar), Amarjeet Singh (tabla), and Baljit Singh (sarangi, dilruba, esraj, tar sehnayi). All of them teach and work at the Naad Foundation, an Intercultural Centre for the Performing and Visual Arts in Surrey. Indian Standard Time performed Canada’s national anthem when the Canucks hosted South Asian Celebration Night earlier this year.

"Indian Standard Time [is] a Surrey-based group of musicians’ musicians that can easily ease you into a trance or get you dancing with their North Indian classical music" Tom Zytaruk, Surrey Now Leader

Running time: approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, including intermission
