Event Notes
This event brings together various artists and speakers. The artists will be showcasing art that they have created as a result of the impact of their own experiences or what they have been exposed to by our society. The art will reflect themes of empowerment, recovery, sexual violence and prevention, body image, healing, and using one's voice. Speakers include a psychologist, survivors, and members of the community.
This evening is the beginning of our global launch. We are endeavouring to eliminate the silence that follows sexual abuse with the launch of a global sexual abuse awareness campaign. Through the use of the hashtag #notmysecret we hope to enhance global awareness surrounding the impacts of sexual abuse. Silence not only fosters abuse, but it allows predators and perpetrators to prey on innocent victims; it’s time to take a stand and end the silence!
Audience advisory: Sensitive topics will be discussed; counsellors will be available
Running time is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, including a 15-minute break.
Presented by Sahara Services and Social Foundry
Proceeds from this event will go to Moving Forward Family Services, to cover counselling sessions for survivors of sexual abuse.
